How to Increase FPS in Minecraft without Mods (Low-End PC Guide)
Introduction
Minecraft is a highly optimizable game for low-end PCs. All you need is the right guidance to increase your FPS and reduce lag. There are many mods which offers FPS boost and lag removal but some people do not prefer using mods in their game.
That is why in this post I will tell you everything that you can do to make your game lag free and enjoyable even in a low-end PC.
## Lower Your Video Settings
Lowering your in-game video settings is a must to increase FPS and reduce lag. I have posted a whole post about Best Minecraft Video Settings for Low-End PC (4GB RAM) which I would recommend you to check out : https://lowendpcgamingtips.blogspot.com/2026/04/best-minecraft-settings-for-low-end-pc.html
or just copy these settings:

Some of the important settings are:
Render Distance: 4-6 (lower it to 2-4 if facing lag)
Graphics: Fast
VSync: OFF
Particles: Minimal
## Close Background Applications
If you have low RAM like 4GB or 2GB then this point could be a life saver. Gamers mostly run Chrome or discord in the background to talk with their friends which uses extra RAM and makes your game lag and decrease FPS.
Closing these Apps would free up RAM and make a noticeable boost in FPS. I personally use my phone with the headset to talk with my friends when playing Minecraft.
## Allocate RAM Properly
If your system have lower RAM like 4 or 2 GB RAM then allocating it fully would worsen your FPS instead of increasing it. Because your system also needs a bit of RAM to work. I would recommend allocating only half of your RAM.
For example if you have 4GB RAM allocate 2GB RAM and if you have 2GB RAM then allocate 1GB RAM. And if you have 1GB RAM then I feel sorry for you.
## Using Fullscreen Mode
You might think that using fullscreen would make your game slower but that is not true in the case of Minecraft.
In Minecraft using fullscreen mode can actually increase your FPS and reduce stuttering in your low-end PC.
## Lower Game Resolution
Reducing game resolution lowers the load on your graphics card and significantly increase FPS. I would recommend you to try 800x600 or 1024x768 for smoother experience.
You can change your game resolution like this:

## Using Older Versions
The newest versions of Minecraft has made Minecraft even heavier. I personally can't run the newest version of Minecraft on my low-end PC without mods.
That is why I would recommend you to play on older versions like 1.16 or 1.20 since these version worked best for me. If you are into bedwars then 1.8 will be perfect version for you.
## Personal Experience
I have been playing Minecraft on my 4GB RAM PC with Intel HD Graphics and Intel Pentium Processor for years now. At the start I only had FPS of like 20-30 but after these settings that I applied in Minecraft Java Edition, I started getting FPS near 50-60. which is a huge jump without mods.
I would recommend you all to atleast try FPS mods because if they work for you then you would never ever need to worry about FPS. I also have a post about the best FPS mods so do check them out if you want: https://lowendpcgamingtips.blogspot.com/2026/04/best-mods-to-fix-lag-in-minecraft-low.html
## Conclusion
Using mods does improve your FPS but you don't always need mods to increase your FPS and reduce lag to get the optimal experience.
All you need is a good guidance and settings to be able to enjoy Minecraft on your low-end PCs. And after doing these settings you would get optimal Minecraft experience on your low-end PC with 4GB RAM.
## Final Tip
If you are still suffering from lag and stuttering then you have to reduce your settings further or use mods to be able to enjoy the game.
