Best Minecraft Versions for Low-End PC (4GB RAM) - No Lag, High FPS Guide

 Introduction

Minecraft is a wonderful game which is famous for its multiple feature like mining, building, playing with friends etc. Minecraft was always a highly-optimized game for low-end PCs but the recent versions introduced lagging, stuttering and decreased FPS in low-end systems.

The good news is that there still are versions which offers optimal performance and experience in Minecraft. And in this post I will share those versions.

I have personally tried all this versions and they worked well in my low-end PC with 4GB RAM.

Best Minecraft Versions for Low-End PCs

## 1. Minecraft 1.8.9

This version is considered the best version for low-end devices because this version is highly-optimized and offers a spam clicking type of combat system which was used in PVP and other mini games like bedwars or skywars.

I personally use this server whenever I play bedwars with my friends because bedwars required tough PVP which is not possible in the newer versions because of the lag and stuttering.

## 2. Minecraft 1.12.2

This version offers a balance between performance and features. This version also contains the newer combat system which is used in all the versions about 1.8.9. This version is best for you if you wants to add mods to your game because this versions supports all the mods and still works well in low-end PC with 4GB RAM.

I use this version to get the experience of the newer combat system and to use mods without lag.

## 3. Minecraft 1.16.5

I have used this version the most because this version offers many new biomes and structures in the nether and still works great in my low-end PC with 4GB RAM. All I needed to do was to change some settings to make it work without lag in my PC.

This version is best for you if you want to try speed running Minecraft because this version has Piglin trades which would help you get ender pearls more easily.

## 4. Minecraft 1.19 (Low Settings)

You might think that version 1.19 might not work in your system but all you need is the right settings to make it work for your system. Version 1.19 increases the RAM demand so if you have 4GB RAM allocate 2GB RAM and if your have 2GB RAM then allocate 1GB RAM. Make sure to not allocate all the RAM because your system also needs some to work.

It took my a while but I researched about Best Settings for Minecraft and  after using those settings I got around 40-50 FPS in this version. I also wrote a post about the best settings for Minecraft so do check it out: https://lowendpcgamingtips.blogspot.com/2026/04/best-minecraft-settings-for-low-end-pc.html

## 5. Minecraft Latest Version (Using FPS Mods)

With the right information and guide you can enjoy the newest version too in your low-end PC with 4GB RAM. First lower your in-game settings as much as you can (you can check my post with the link above to do that). Then download either OptiFine or Sodium and lower the extra settings too. Then the lag should be gone and you will be able to enjoy your game without lag in your low-end PC.

To get the best Mod for your Minecraft version I would recommend you to check my post related to Minecraft mods for low-end PC. That post contains detailed info about all these mods: https://lowendpcgamingtips.blogspot.com/2026/04/best-mods-to-fix-lag-in-minecraft-low.html

Why Newer Versions Lag on Low-End PCs..?

Newer version include more features, better graphics and complex world generation which put more load on Graphics card, CPU and consume more RAM. Since low-end PCs have less RAM, weaker CPU and Graphics card that is why it causes lag in low-end PCs and ruin the experience of the game.

Personal Experience

I have been playing Minecraft for many years and I have changed my versions multiple times so, I figured out the best versions to play Minecraft on without lag in low-end PCs.

I have gotten good FPS in all these version with my low-end PC with 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics and Intel Pentium Processor. If the game worked fine for me then it should also work fine for you too. atleast do try these versions.

Conclusion

Choosing a good version is very important to do in Minecraft so that you can have the optimal experience of the game.

Older versions provide higher FPS and smooth gameplay which the newer versions provide multiple features and newer structures to explore. You should always chose the right version based on your taste in the game and enjoy with the optimal experience.

Final Tip

If you still face lag and stuttering in your game or any kind of problem with the versions mentioned above then I would recommend you to lower your render distance and resolution to make your game smoother. If the lag persists then you can check my other posts to find a FPS mod or lower your settings.

I you are still not satisfied then you should share your problem with me in the comment section and I would reply as soon as possible.
